This synthesis details a bespoke Personal Knowledge Management (PKM) and productivity system built on the Doom Emacs framework. Key architectural features include two-way synchronization with Google Calendar via the org-gcal package and a persistent OAuth implementation. The methodology employs Org-roam for Zettelkasten-style concept mapping and a dedicated "Open Ideas" buffer for high-velocity chronological capture. The hardware stack is uniquely extended to the mobile domain via a BlackBerry KEY2 retrofitted with a custom LineageOS 22 (Android 15) build, enabling a terminal-centric workflow via Termux and SSH, despite ongoing constraints in capacitive input and input-latency optimization.
Key Highlights & Timestamps
0:15 Systems Overview: Transition from standard low-friction tools (Apple Notes, Google Calendar) to a high-maintenance "project car" productivity stack centered on Doom Emacs.
6:31 GCal Integration: Implementation of org-gcal to aggregate data from three disparate Google Calendars into a unified Emacs Agenda using persistent OAuth authentication.
8:44 Task Scheduling: Strategic differentiation between scheduled to-dos (e.g., recurring homework) and static calendar events, utilizing periodic repeaters (+1w syntax) for task persistence.
10:21 Open Source Contribution: Discussion of a submitted Pull Request (PR) to the org-gcal repository, highlighting the transition into Emacs Lisp development.
10:46 Rapid Capture Buffer: Deployment of an "Open Ideas" file for unstructured data entry, acting as a temporal filter where recent thoughts remain at the head for eventual categorization.
12:38 Org-roam Architecture: Utilization of Org-roam to generate a bidirectional knowledge graph for technical subjects like data structures, mimicking Obsidian’s relational linking.
18:13 Hardware Modernization: Detailed overview of a BlackBerry KEY2 with a cracked bootloader running Android 15/LineageOS 22, bypassing original Android 8.1 end-of-life restrictions for banking and authentication apps.
20:06 Mobile Terminal Workflows: Execution of Emacs within Termux on Android; utilization of SSH to remote devices (Key Lime A8 Mini) to maintain a consistent environment across mobile hardware.
23:09 Technical Aesthetic: Emphasis on Vim keybindings and the ergonomic utility of physical QWERTY keyboards for terminal navigation as primary drivers for the setup.
25:01 System Optimization: Future roadmap focusing on mobile note-taking efficiency and the eventual public release of personal configuration dotfiles.
