OpenERV Window Mount (WM12): A Decentralized Energy Recovery Ventilator
Core Function: The WM12 is a decentralized Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) designed to provide fresh outdoor air while recovering ~90% of heat energy, minimizing energy loss during ventilation.
Design: It consists of two TW4 modules in a polypropylene foam casing, designed for window mounting.
Beta Phase: The product is currently in the beta testing phase, with units being distributed to select users based on their ability to manage potential issues.
High Efficiency: Offers ~90% sensible and ~80% latent heat recovery on medium speed, with minimal variation across different environmental conditions.
Airflow and Noise: Provides a high airflow of 60 CFM (average net fresh air) on maximum speed while maintaining a quiet operation, as low as ~0.25 Sone (~37 dBa) on medium and ~42.5 dBa on max.
Return on Investment: Claims a significantly higher return on investment compared to conventional ductless ERVs (~21x), ducted HRV/ERV units (~3x), and even photovoltaic panels in some areas (>10x).
Long Lifespan: Designed for a lifespan exceeding 50 years, with no anticipated long-term component availability issues.
Smart Home Integration: Can be integrated with popular home automation systems (Google Home, Alexa, Home Assistant) via MQTT for scheduling, sensor-based operation, and wireless control.
WiFi Control: Controllable via WiFi using MQTT, including through a smartphone app.
Low Energy Consumption: Consumes only 2 watts on low and 7 watts on maximum power.
Air Quality Improvement: Effectively reduces CO2 levels, airborne pathogen transmission, and improves overall indoor air quality.
Optional Features: Offers optional HEPA (H13) filter and a storm valve add-on for enhanced air filtration and protection during storms (both require outdoor plate attachment and hood).
Wind Compensation: Features automatic wind compensation using a pressure sensor to ensure balanced airflow and precise control over building pressure.
